ITIL process owners play one of the most significant roles in an implementation project, much like an architect in a building’s development. Architects are not actually involved in constructing the framing, or getting involved in the hands-on work; but, they do manage the planning, design, and project management of the building's construction. They're also responsible for awareness and advocacy of the project to the customer. Similarly, process owners play a management role within the ITIL project team, as well as communicate progress and activities to the organization’s various stakeholder groups.
